CID Steering Committee

The Community Improvement District (CID) Steering Committee is a wide-ranging group of business owners, property owners and other stakeholders tasked with reviewing a proposed Community Improvement District and determining if it is right for our membership. After reviewing a proposed list of programs and services, an associated budget and a list of potential revenue streams, this Committee will submit a recommendation to the Board of the Special Business District. If a CID is recommended and approved by the Special Business District (SBD) Board, the general membership will then have the opportunity to offer input and approve the proposal.

Background Documents

  • What is a Community Improvement District?

Brief description of this new type of downtown district.

  • Maps and Boundaries

NOTE: As a result of our recent town meetings, our consultants recommended the CID Steering Committee reevaluate a district larger than the current SBD. The CID Steering Committee is reviewing a new DRAFT map that includes all the SBD and selected properties currently on the boarder of the SBD. The proposed district does not cross Providence.

  • SBD Map

A detailed aerial photo map of the greater downtown area and the SBD boundaries. Perfect to zoom in on a particular property to determine size, scale and other characteristics.

  • Central City Ownership Status

Map of primary owners within the greater downtown area.

  • Land Use Status

Map of hard, soft and transitional properties as determined by the Downtown Leadership Council. Helpful to see which properties have development potential. Note: this designations have not been given by the individual property owners.

  • Zoning Map

Zoning designation of properties within the greater downtown area. The Special Business District is primarily C2 (Central Business District) with some M1 (General Industrial). C2 is high density development with no setbacks.
