Survey Results

In the Spring of 2008, P.U.M.A. consulting conducted a series of focus groups and one-on-one meetings with District stakeholders, including the CCA Board and many CCA members. These interviews were followed up by a survey conducted through the mail and online.

When asked to describe what they would want The District to look like in 10 years, the most frequents words offered were:

  1. Friendly
  2. Attractive
  3. Accessible
  4. Diverse
  5. Safe
  6. Trendy
  7. Local
  8. Vibrant
  9. Clean
  10. Unique
  11. Alive
  12. Charming

Respondents were asked to express their opinion on which general improvements will be very important to enhancing The District in the next five to ten years:

To achieve this vision for The District, respondents suggested the following actions will be important:

Most interestingly, a majority of respondents said they would consider paying new or additional assessments to support these actions, improvements and/or investments:

The immediate implications of these results are:

  • 1. "The District" is a strong product and it's time to take it to the next level.
  • 2. There is a clear need for a stronger District advocate.
  • 3. We need to shift from marketer to "property manager".
  • 4. We need to shift from short-term tasks to long-term strategies.
